Wendy's Franchisee Achieves Food Cost Performance Goal

Syracuse, NY - June 23, 2008 - With controlling food costs continuing to be a primary focus for quick service operators, one such operator has found a way to meet the goals they set for themselves by using the web-based application, SBOnet(tm), from Dumac Business Systems, Inc.
First Sun Management Corporation (FSMC), a Wendy's franchisee, recently reported in their weekly newsletter that they had achieved their performance goals in a majority of their restaurants. In the newsletter, Kelly Durham of FSMC wrote "41 of our 50 stores are currently equipped with SBOnet(tm). This software gives us the ability to measure our actual food cost performance against a theoretical food cost percent based on what we actually sell. Our performance goal is to be within 1 percentage point of theoretical. Last week, these stores met that goal. Way to go! With food costs at an all time high, tight control is the best way to protect our profitability.
Joe Turner of FSMC also confirmed the importance of SBOnet(tm) by commenting that "the use of SBOnet inventory provides us with a sustainable competitive advantage."
SBOnet(tm) is the web-based corporate reporting application from Dumac Business Systems, Inc. The inventory feature of SBOnet(tm) tracks theoretical vs actual food costs by using single-source recipes with PLU sales from restaurants. The electronic invoice feature allows invoices to be received directly from vendors and submitted after receipt, directly on-line. The robust application provides an extremely user-friendly interface to this complex process. Dumac currently has over 400 users on SBOnet(tm) and most have seen the same benefits as FSMC. These users also take advantage of the near real-time corporate reporting, labor scheduling and timekeeping information provided by the application.
FSMC started using the inventory feature of SBOnet(tm), almost 2 years ago and the measurable 2% improvement in food cost in the initial 20 restaurant rollout, over stores without SBOnet(tm), provided the positive financial impact to make the decision easier to completely upgrade the POS in an additional 10 restaurants.
